Research & Academic Projects
Research forms an important part of Arzu Kara's creative practice. Alongside her work as a designer, she collaborates with the University of Milan's Archives of Abjection (Archivi dell'Abiezione: Produzione Culturale Minoritaria in Turchia e nelle sue Diaspore) project, exploring women's textiles, craftsmanship, and overlooked creative histories.
In 2026, she exhibited her research at the University of Milan and presented her work to students from the Fashion Department. Her research focuses on the Boyabat Çemberi and the remarkable skill, knowledge, and creativity embedded within these textiles.
For Arzu, fashion extends beyond design and commerce. It is a means of understanding culture, craftsmanship, and the stories embedded within objects. Supporting the visibility of women's work and preserving forms of creativity that have often gone unrecognised remains central to both her research and design practice.
